DJ Twist set for the Big Brother Channel O party this Friday

Posted By : Admin on Wednesday | 21:11

Wednesday

Jose Joao, better known as DJ Twist sprightly host of The Empty Fridge on Fresh FM is set to fire up the turn tables at Friday night’s famous Channel O party. Representing Namibia this week, DJ Twist is elated to have been invited to herd this sheep of party-hungry Hotshots, and after last Friday's thrills and spills this was a party we didn't want to miss.
We caught up with the electrifying MC and jockey for a quick catch up.
Well versed in various musical genres DJ Twist expressed a soft-spot he has for old school music. This seems to be a growing trend amongst DJ’s and musicians. That being said however, he love giving the crowd what they want which is often the latest and freshest.
From a young and tender age Twist has always been an entertainer but was set to follow in the producer-footsteps of his father and even considering embarking on an upright path as a lawyer. Boy are we glad the lad came to his senses and headed for a radio station to pursue music. He has since been serving Namibia the finest of dance tunes.
His musical influences include DJ’s Bantu Soul, Euphonik, Kent and jazz pianist Bob James for texture. With all these layers the housemates are in for a party like no other.
Twist reckons he’d do well as a housemate but figures Luis and Permithias are a good pair to represent Namibia.
We look forward to a stellar set by DJ Twist at the Channel O party on Friday night.

Housemates win thier second 100% wager

After wining the first full 100% wager last week, the hotshots went again to show their confidence in their talents and wagered 100% yet gain with Big Brother.
This week’s task  was about the modern dance battle. Like last week, this week housemates were required to  split into two teams; thank God that this week it was  not biased. We  had the blue team and the green team aka the zombies. In a  battle, each team at a time had to present their dance. All  happy and excited, the  green team  took the dance floor first and shook their bodies like there is no tomorrow.
After the green team’s presentation, it was the blue team’s moment and with ladies like Esther and Goitse, expect the best from them… I wouldn’t want to play judge but the fact is that, they nailed it.  At this particular juncture, what was left was Biggie’s conclusive statement. Yes of course,  they impressed him and he  had to let the 100%% wager out of his store. This has been the hotshots’ second 100% wager secured and they look very confident to retreat.
Congratulations to the hotshots….Which team rocked the dance battle?

LILIAN PISSED WITH TAYO

The second wager has just been completed and the theme was modern dance .They split into two teams (Red team and Blue team). As usual the battle rolled in the house but Nigerian representatives Tayo and Sheilla shocked housemates when they engaged into a disagreement when they the entire house was celebrating their victory for earning 100%  after  their presentation today.
Lilian got pissed at Tayo’s stopping the drum roar to give the rest room to shin too coz his tired of being a topic . He said  he has realized that they are all equal in this house and he is tired of  apologizing to Africa for bad did’s”s but rather  keep it cool with the rest .It seems Tayos supremacy is deteriorating.

Nominations and reactions from all over Africa

Posted By : Admin on Tuesday | 20:24

Tuesday

This week’s nominees are down to just eight from last week’s 25, a huge relief to the housemates, Africa and the voters probably. Two Hotshots; Mira and Resa are out already, one wonders how many will be leaving Biggie’s house this Sunday.
This week, Rwanda’s Frankie, Zim’s JJ, Tanzania’s Laveda, Kenya’s Sabina, Uganda’s Ellah and Esther as well as Nigeria’s Lilian and Tayo made it to the dreaded nomination list. So Permithias didn’t make this list after gunning 6 nominations? Hmmm…
By the look of things, Uganda and Nigeria will have to double their voting efforts if at all they are ensure that non of their reps is kicked out come Sunday but it seems these two countries are great danger of losing at least a Hotshot. The two nations will also need the help of other countries in this struggle.
As usual this got passionate Africa talking, from the fans’ comments, it’s clear who they want in and out, read on to see their feed back.
Mwila Mwansa · Luanshya
Nigeria will loose one housemate. It’s either tayo or Lillian
Makungu Katele · Nurse at Ministry of Health
I jst hate tayo nd lillian ter sud go no 1 cares mark2 all da way
Olurotimi Anifowose · Top Commenter · University of Lagos,89-90
You see how manipulative things can be. How come permithias was omitted? They must put him there oh

Luis: ‘I can make Mira’s dreams come true’

Prior to Mira’s eviction last Sunday, she had formed a strong bond with fellow Hotshot Luis and the two had also developed a strong liking for each other something that caused ‘emotional’ pain to Luis when the Mozambican beauty was booted.
During his first Diary since her exit, Luis opened up to Biggie saying that they had talked about the future and how she wanted to win the money so that she could realize her dreams. Luis stressed that he was hurt by her eviction but shared with Biggie that he’s going to do all it takes to win the money so that he helps her achieve her dreams.
“I can make her dreams come true if I win the money,” he confessed. From this statement it seems Luis is ready to ‘share’ the money with Mira should he win it.
Luis continued letting out his heart to Biggie on how he felt about Mira and how he misses her. “It’s been a while since I last felt strong about someone,” he stated.
He however said that Mira’s eviction is something he’s going to use to push on because he’s sure she would want him to be strong and win the game.

Press Release: Correction to Big Brother Hotshots voting process

M-Net and Endemol South Africa have taken immediate steps to address an error that occurred during the Nomination Announcement on Big Brother Hotshots on Monday evening, 13 October 2014. The name of Permithias was erroneously omitted from the list of this week’s nominated housemates and was not made available as a voting option for viewers on the relevant platforms.
Housemates made their nominations on Sunday evening. Frankie received 8 nominations, Tayo and JJ received 7 each Permithias received 6, Esther received 5, Sabina received 4, and Lilian and Laveda received 3 nominations each.
M-Net and Endemol South Africa have taken the following steps to correct this error and to ensure that the voting process is fair to all nominated housemates:
  1. All voting platforms, except SMS, will be closed as of 11:00 CAT on Tuesday 14 October.
  2. Big Brother’s nominee read will happen on Tuesday 14 October after the broadcast of the Daily Highlights show at 20:30 CAT on all relevant channels, so that the housemates and viewers are aware of the full list of nominees.
  3. All votes, including SMS votes, for the period Monday 13 October 20:30 CAT to Tuesday 14 October 20:30 CAT will be verified by auditors SizweNtsalubaGobodo on Tuesday 14 October 20:30 and will be excluded from the accumulated vote count for Sunday 19 October.
  4. Charges for all SMS votes received between Monday 13 October 20:30 CAT and Tuesday 14 October 20:30 CAT will be reversed (users will be refunded).
  5. Voting will reopen on all platforms directly after the housemates have been informed of the relevant nominees on Tuesday 14 October after the Daily Highlights Show, 20:30 CAT.
The nine housemates nominated for eviction on Sunday 19 October are therefore: Esther; Ellah (both Uganda); Frankie (Rwanda); JJ (Zimbabwe); Laveda (Tanzania); Lilian; Tayo (both Nigeria); Sabina (Kenya) and Permithias (Namibia). Eight of the housemates are up for eviction based on nominations received from their fellow housemates, while Ellah is up for eviction after Head of House Samantha used her powers to add her to the list. Ellah will not be informed of her nomination until Sunday evening when Samantha reveals her decision during the Live Eviction Show.
M-Net and Endemol South Africa apologise to viewers for the error and can confirm that the correction will have no bearing on the results of the eviction vote on Sunday 19 October, due to the independent auditing process verified by SizweNtsalubaGobodo.

Housemates to be divided into two teams again

Posted By : Admin on Monday | 21:10

Monday

New HoH Samantha kicked off her reign with a task brief she read to housemates and they had to decide how much they would be Wagering with Biggie this week. It seems after winning the first 100% Wager of the season last week, housemates have become very confident and once again decided to go for another 100% Wager!
Just like the previous week, the task brief read clearly that housemates had to split into two teams, the procedure is not yet known but it may be up to  Samantha just like Laveda who faced some housemates wrath for the rest of the week. One wonders how the South Africa lass will pick her team.
For the task, the housemates have to choreograph and compile a modern dance show. During the week they will receive training from different instructors. Afterwards, they will have to apply what they learnt in order to go face to face in a modern dance battle. In addition to choreographing and compiling the dance-off, the housemates have to design the costumes and create a backdrop. Biggie is certainly not making it easy for the housemates.
We wonder how the likes of JJ, Sabina and Alusa will fare if they coincidentally happen to be on the same team again bearing in mind that they were also struggling to be heard last week something that contributed to their team loss.
How do you think Samantha should come up with her team?

Another emotional victim

We have all gotten familiar with the loudest and coolest guys in the house but this morning Esther broke down and started crying. Her fellow housemates had been talking about romance and relationships, and it brought back memories of a painful past for Esther.
Akankwansa aka SMALL PEPE got married last and held on the horrible moment for more tha eight months .As the tears flowed from her she made a passionate proclamation about the way women are harassed particularly in relationships.
The conversation was among Samantha, Lilian, Macky2, Tayo andM’am Bea, sharing her background with men and how it had affected her.

TEARS OF JOY: TAYO BECOMES A FATHER

More and more surprises are still coming in the house . When Tayo came to the Big brother house to play for $300,000, he left his wife pregnant. While the housemates were enjoying their usual fine time, Biggie called Tayo to the diary room for some heartwarming News from home. It was about the new prince introduced to this world.

Biggie told Biggie that his girlfriend  today morning at 6:15 gave birth to  a bouncing bay boy.  Last week on Wednesday, Tayo was heard  telling Esther about her pregnant girlfriend  and that soon  she be introducing someone to the world. Biggie gave Tayo some message from home which made him emotional. Right from the diary room, he headed to the lounge and broke the news to fellow housemates who congratulated him, Ellah said a prayer for him, the bay and whole family. Thereafter was a small celebration with some drinks from  Biggie paired with singing.
Talking to  fellow Housemates, he decided to name the little one Toye! …We would like to congratulate Tayo and at the same time welcome the little Prince Toya to the new world.

Mira Also Leaves The Hotshots!!

After saying good bye to Zambia’s Resa as the fist hotshot to get evicted  from the Big Brother house, Africa’s votes also decided to send Mira from Mozambique home.
Leaving her beau Luis and country man Macky2 still battling for  the $300,000, Mira has become the second housemate to leave the game out of the 26 who entered a week ago. This now leaves the  journey to 24 housemates planing for the grand prize.
In her chat with host IK on the Live eviction stage, she said that it was a good feeling to be in the house and she was grateful for  the opportunity though at the same time she feels good to be outside the house. ” I miss my family and my phone,” Mira said.
About Luis, she said he’s an amazing guy she has ever met and  she likes him as she watched their kissing  video clip. And about her kiss with Nhlanhla, all she had to was….he’s my brother!
We going to miss Mira  and …..we wish the best to Mira in all her endeavors.

In our heads, the questions remains which housemate is leaving tonight?

They entered the house, they became one family, they sang, they danced, they coupled, they loved……….But we are to see them getting parted tonight….
Now that the show has  been running for six full days, here we come with a heart pounding Bloody day in the Big Brother game. Sunday with its eviction does nothing good to the housemates. At  the opening of the show, we saw a very big twist that saw Laveda becoming the very first HOH as the rest of the Housemates hit the block to face the eviction gallows.
For the past days, tension has been in the house with housemates worrying about their stay after the first Sunday  Live Eviction. It’s normal and their job to worry as it is Africa’s job to keep them in the house. Africa has been voting to save their housemates and  at the end of the day, we’ll know  who will get the first boot from the Hotshots game.
With voting lines closed at 6:00, votes are already in and at least a certain number of  people are going home TONIGHT. Let’s see who it/they will be. With some identifying Mozambique’s English troubled  Trezagah as  the weakest link in the house , I would like to differ from them. Africa is one community that can shower you with Big surprises especially when it comes to  voting for who should stay in the Big Brother House. They normally keep  people you don’t expect, that’s why I always say,”Expect the Unexpected” when it comes to Big Brother Africa.
Who do you think will be going home tonight and which team will Africa vote for immunity from the Nominations?….All is happening tonight.

Saturday

It’s amazing what a little bit of competition will do. Up till now the housemates have been taking it easy, but since they’ve been divided into two groups for the extravaganza – a split which has already caused tension – they have been hard at work to make sure they win the big prize on Saturday.
Things came to a head between Lilian and JJ, as they argued over creative control. Professing twenty years of experience, JJ wanted to apply his expertise to the extravaganza; but Lilian felt he had to let go and hand over the reins to the others every once in a while. Samantha was not fazed by either of them, making sure her thoughts on the performance were heard.
But before long the housemates had calmed down as they gathered in the bedroom and jived together. Lilian and Permithias had a good time bumping and grinding, before she was scooped into his arms and plunged to the ground in an elaborate dip. Their disagreement about Permithias’ prank was forgotten for the moment. Will it be wiped from Lilian’s memory for good after some energised bonding?
They weren’t the only ones getting into the groove, as Kacey Moore and Resa waltzed about the room in a tight embrace. Esther soon started, rocking her tiny hips from side to side and beckoning Arthur and JJ to join. Piled on the bed, Butterphly, Idris, Trezegah, Luis, Mira, Sipe and Macky2 were not to be swayed and, with shuffling papers and serious concentration, carried on preparing.
Huddled in another corner, Sheillah and Nhlanhla were doing a dance of their own, absorbed in serious conversation, faces close together, deepening the connection that has escaped no one’s attention. How long will we have to wait before their dance gets a little dirtier as well?

Waiting in the wings

The show was about to start and yet the housemates could not settle down. Despite deciding that it would be in their best interest to take a break and rest their voices and bodies before the extravaganza the rehearsals continued.
Costumes were being prepped and props sought out in an excited swirl of colour and activity, and the butterflies increased ten-fold when Big Brother announced they only had 30 minutes left before they had to head to the stage.
To make matters worse, a fight broke out between Tayo and Nhlanhla like two schoolboys on a playground, letting loose with words, but luckily not fists. Egos clashed once more, as they argued about who would win the extravaganza, with Tayo stepping on toes by declaring that if the other team won, it would merely be a matter of sympathy.
They simmered down eventually, but the stage had been set. Whatever the result we can only imagine that Nhlanhla and Tayo will have words after the show. Or will the loser merely cower away in embarrassment, while the other is swept up in the euphoria of a win?
The rest of the housemates could not be bothered, and chose not to get involved, focusing instead on make-up, hair and costume. Frankie looked particularly fine as Lilian applied bright red lipstick and gave him a set of sparkly earrings. She could not help giggling, saying that she felt like she “was damaging his face.” He got quite a kick out of seeing his reflection. And Africa is sure to get a few kicks of their own as they watch the housemates shine on stage once more.
#BigBroAfrica its the day for BigBro extravaganza.... I'm am excited

Confirmed Grudges in Hotshots

Posted By : Admin on Friday | 11:30

Friday

If you thought it was going to  take forever for clashes to develop in the Big Brother house, rethink! At   this particular juncture, the hotshots have already identified and confirmed the fellas they can’t click with now or later.  During their diary sessions earlier today, Biggie was asking housemates if they have fellow housemates that they can’t click with. Fortunately or unfortunately, some had names to give while others  kept the sheet clean.
Basing  on yesterday’s fight between Tayo and Arthur in which Ellah and Frankie poked their noses, Tayo vowed never to talk to Ellah again! The angry Nigerian explained that Arthur wouldn’t have  taken the issue seriously  because in the first place he never meant it but courtesy of Ellah and Frankie who added fuel to the burning fire, the matter became worse.  Despite making  things clean with Arthur he said he has nothing to do with the Ugandan lass.
Sheillah also disclosed to Biggie and Africa how  she doesn’t like Zambia’s Resa because she knows it that she doesn’t like her too! The  21 year old Botswana AAT student dished this to Biggie after he asked her the housemates she finds real in the house.  She went ahead and explained that Resa is one person who will be crystal clear, stand  in one’s face and tell them how she doesn’t like them!  That’s a  brave…. Sheillah also added Permithias to her hate list as she finds the young lad two faced.
The next pair on our grudge list is M’am Bea and Samantha. While shedding tears in the diary room, M’am Bea told Biggie  that she finds it hard to relate to Samantha after she recently offended her in the kitchen. Samantha  also has her least favorite person in the house  who is none other than  the Sheillah who hates Resa and Permithias. The South African hairdresser explained that Sheillah is to rude for her liking!
Don’t get mad, get even…..Arthur also believes that he won’t be able to Tayo as a person he wants to talk to because he’s fake. He  added that he meant each and every word he said because he wants to break him down for his game. Arthur believes that this is Tayo’s game plan to have his big threats discouraged and later weaken them.
As Big Brother always encourages housemates to settle their differences, things might change at any time from now….Whose reason do you find reasonable?

Luis Quits Lilian and Hots Mira!

It looks like Luis couldn’t bear the one sided affair he was launching for Nigeria’s Lilian, he is now exploring Mira!
Following his revelation in diary session on Day 3, Luis is seems to be falling for another girl. Yesterday he told Biggie that he had been increasingly developing a strong thing for  Lillian but realised that she was not the same about him and that their friendship would not develop further. He then said that he would be focusing on his game moving on and making sure that he gave off his best.
Today Luis seems to be getting closer and closer with Mira. In fact after Sheilla’s intervention as cupid, the two ended up sharing a bed, cuddled like star-crossed lovers yesterday. And we can’t help but wonder if Luis did not steal a kiss from that moment…
Today Mira walked over to sit herself next to Luis and placed her one leg on top of him. Their physical interaction developed and soon the couple had their arms wrapped around each other, whispering sweet-nothings. Things seem to be getting serious from the look and sound of things. Luis was heard affirming that he was now feeling better when Mira asked him how he was doing. Could it have been that it was because he was next to her?
Soon after the couple started talking about evictions and Luis expressed his confidence that she isn’t going anywhere and Mira reciprocated the same faith that he would also stay on the show. Luis caressed her back as he said, “We are going to make this work no matter what happens on Sunday”. To this Mira responded by stroking his face and getting closer to him.
If we are to go with how things are unfolding, we might be welcoming the “Luira”(Luis and Mira) to the lovers’ board….what do you think?

Big Brother Africa Hotshots maintains usual hype

IT was a night of fun and of course lots of glitz and glamour at The Big Brother Africa (BBA) Hotshots launch on October 5 at The Whippet in Linden, Johannesburg, South Africa.

After the unexpected burning down of the former BBA house also located in Johannesburg, viewers and audiences were naturally eager to see how this new venue would turn out and with no doubt Big Brother did not disappoint.
The usual presenter, Ik Osakioduwa, popularly known as Ik, introduced audiences to this year’s edition with a stunning cabaret performance of the official Big Brother theme song. It was splendid, well curated and off course something audiences never expected.
During the launch show for the first time ever, all 26 housemates were given one-minute slots to showcase their talents live on stage. It was something new and exciting.
Each and everyone in the audience had an opportunity to score each performance with any mark between 1 and 100, which also made the whole night worth the while for everyone present.
As a way of connecting audiences with the housemates through the talent show, Big Brother further explained that it was a way to come up with the housemate who scored highest, making them Head of House who would be the ONLY housemate not up for eviction this coming Sunday.
With a wonderful saxophone performance Tanzania’s Laveda got the top score beating the top 6 who included Kenya’s Sabina, Ghana’s M’am Bea, Nigeria’s Lillian, Rwanda’s Arthur and Zimbabwe’s own, JJ. Her win thus meant that she would be the only one not in danger of going home after this coming Sunday’s eviction.
As usual at BBA launches, award-winning musicians from Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa also took the stage with their various musical talents.
Nigeria’s multiple award-winning superstars Davido who is already well known across Africa for a number of hits like DamiDuro, Aye and Skelewu did what he knew best leaving the crowd screaming for more.
Other performers included Tanzania’s Bongo Flavor recording artiste, Diamond, who also performed before at one of Big Brother Stargame’s previous eviction shows, South African hip hop musician Cassper Nyovest known for his smashing hit Doc Shebeleza and the Nigerian-born Emmy Gee featuring AB Crazy and DJ Dimplez.
Audiences were welcomed with a red carpert entrance and the show was full of life. As usual BBA Hotshots was aired live from 7pm on Africa Magic, Africa Magic Entertainment, Africa Magic World as well as on DStv channel 197 and 198.
However, as the show goes on Zimbabwean audiences eagerly await how far the country’s representatives this year Butterphly and JJ will reach. This is the period which will see audiences glued to their screens for this 63 day journey.
Furthermore, ZiJudgement Yard’s finest, DJ Flevah, will also be playing in the Big Brother house on Friday October 31 .
