DJ Twist set for the Big Brother Channel O party this Friday

Posted By : Admin on Wednesday | 21:11

Wednesday

Jose Joao, better known as DJ Twist sprightly host of The Empty Fridge on Fresh FM is set to fire up the turn tables at Friday night’s famous Channel O party. Representing Namibia this week, DJ Twist is elated to have been invited to herd this sheep of party-hungry Hotshots, and after last Friday's thrills and spills this was a party we didn't want to miss.
We caught up with the electrifying MC and jockey for a quick catch up.
Well versed in various musical genres DJ Twist expressed a soft-spot he has for old school music. This seems to be a growing trend amongst DJ’s and musicians. That being said however, he love giving the crowd what they want which is often the latest and freshest.
From a young and tender age Twist has always been an entertainer but was set to follow in the producer-footsteps of his father and even considering embarking on an upright path as a lawyer. Boy are we glad the lad came to his senses and headed for a radio station to pursue music. He has since been serving Namibia the finest of dance tunes.
His musical influences include DJ’s Bantu Soul, Euphonik, Kent and jazz pianist Bob James for texture. With all these layers the housemates are in for a party like no other.
Twist reckons he’d do well as a housemate but figures Luis and Permithias are a good pair to represent Namibia.
We look forward to a stellar set by DJ Twist at the Channel O party on Friday night.

LILIAN PISSED WITH TAYO

The second wager has just been completed and the theme was modern dance .They split into two teams (Red team and Blue team). As usual the battle rolled in the house but Nigerian representatives Tayo and Sheilla shocked housemates when they engaged into a disagreement when they the entire house was celebrating their victory for earning 100%  after  their presentation today.
Lilian got pissed at Tayo’s stopping the drum roar to give the rest room to shin too coz his tired of being a topic . He said  he has realized that they are all equal in this house and he is tired of  apologizing to Africa for bad did’s”s but rather  keep it cool with the rest .It seems Tayos supremacy is deteriorating.

Luis: ‘I can make Mira’s dreams come true’

Posted By : Admin on Tuesday | 19:40

Tuesday

Prior to Mira’s eviction last Sunday, she had formed a strong bond with fellow Hotshot Luis and the two had also developed a strong liking for each other something that caused ‘emotional’ pain to Luis when the Mozambican beauty was booted.
During his first Diary since her exit, Luis opened up to Biggie saying that they had talked about the future and how she wanted to win the money so that she could realize her dreams. Luis stressed that he was hurt by her eviction but shared with Biggie that he’s going to do all it takes to win the money so that he helps her achieve her dreams.
“I can make her dreams come true if I win the money,” he confessed. From this statement it seems Luis is ready to ‘share’ the money with Mira should he win it.
Luis continued letting out his heart to Biggie on how he felt about Mira and how he misses her. “It’s been a while since I last felt strong about someone,” he stated.
He however said that Mira’s eviction is something he’s going to use to push on because he’s sure she would want him to be strong and win the game.

Big Brother Africa Hotshots maintains usual hype

Posted By : Admin on Friday | 08:21

Friday

IT was a night of fun and of course lots of glitz and glamour at The Big Brother Africa (BBA) Hotshots launch on October 5 at The Whippet in Linden, Johannesburg, South Africa.

After the unexpected burning down of the former BBA house also located in Johannesburg, viewers and audiences were naturally eager to see how this new venue would turn out and with no doubt Big Brother did not disappoint.
The usual presenter, Ik Osakioduwa, popularly known as Ik, introduced audiences to this year’s edition with a stunning cabaret performance of the official Big Brother theme song. It was splendid, well curated and off course something audiences never expected.
During the launch show for the first time ever, all 26 housemates were given one-minute slots to showcase their talents live on stage. It was something new and exciting.
Each and everyone in the audience had an opportunity to score each performance with any mark between 1 and 100, which also made the whole night worth the while for everyone present.
As a way of connecting audiences with the housemates through the talent show, Big Brother further explained that it was a way to come up with the housemate who scored highest, making them Head of House who would be the ONLY housemate not up for eviction this coming Sunday.
With a wonderful saxophone performance Tanzania’s Laveda got the top score beating the top 6 who included Kenya’s Sabina, Ghana’s M’am Bea, Nigeria’s Lillian, Rwanda’s Arthur and Zimbabwe’s own, JJ. Her win thus meant that she would be the only one not in danger of going home after this coming Sunday’s eviction.
As usual at BBA launches, award-winning musicians from Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa also took the stage with their various musical talents.
Nigeria’s multiple award-winning superstars Davido who is already well known across Africa for a number of hits like DamiDuro, Aye and Skelewu did what he knew best leaving the crowd screaming for more.
Other performers included Tanzania’s Bongo Flavor recording artiste, Diamond, who also performed before at one of Big Brother Stargame’s previous eviction shows, South African hip hop musician Cassper Nyovest known for his smashing hit Doc Shebeleza and the Nigerian-born Emmy Gee featuring AB Crazy and DJ Dimplez.
Audiences were welcomed with a red carpert entrance and the show was full of life. As usual BBA Hotshots was aired live from 7pm on Africa Magic, Africa Magic Entertainment, Africa Magic World as well as on DStv channel 197 and 198.
However, as the show goes on Zimbabwean audiences eagerly await how far the country’s representatives this year Butterphly and JJ will reach. This is the period which will see audiences glued to their screens for this 63 day journey.
Furthermore, ZiJudgement Yard’s finest, DJ Flevah, will also be playing in the Big Brother house on Friday October 31 .

GAETANO TIPS BBA HOTSHOTS

Gaetano Kaggwa is a presenter/producer on Urban TV’s Urban Today programme that runs every Monday to Friday from 7:00- 9:00am. He had a chat with Carol Kasujja
WHY DO YOU HAVE A PASSWORD ON YOUR PHONE?
It is my phone; my dear, phones are no longer just phones. They are part of us. Some of us have private family pictures saved. What happens if it lands in the wrong hands?
But the good thing is my wife knows my password.
YOU HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR FIVE YEARS, WHAT IS TAKING YOU LONG TO GET KIDS?When the right time comes, we shall get kids because we both love them. Right now, we are too busy. When we settle, we shall get as many kids as we want.
WOULD YOU DIVORCE A WOMAN WHO COULD NOT HAVE KIDS?
No, If I divorce her that means I never loved her in the first place. I would settle with her till God blesses us with children. I would not even adopt.
SOME MARRIED MEN LOOK STRESSED, HOW COME YOU ARE HAPPY?
(Laughs). Marriage is good. It is not a bed of roses but it is interesting. I have never regretted why I made that decision. First of all, I married my friend; we joke a lot. My wife and I never sleep angry. I found her with her values and she also found me with my character and none of us has tried to change the other.
We appreciate each other  the way we are and to me, that is a plus.
WHAT HAS KEPT YOU MARRIED THIS LONG?
I am creative. Up to now, I still flirt with my wife. For xample, if I am at a party with her, I can whisper sweet things in her ears, if I am by passing her; I can slap her butt. It might look childish but those small gestures lighten up people’s days.
If I am at work, I send her texts. I always keep it fresh and exciting. We travel together. If I have enough money, I take her for dinner.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE?
Not having sex before marriage is so 1800s. If you are above 18 and dating, go for it. Sex plays a huge part in marriage. What if you get married to a person who will bore you for the rest of your days on earth?
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OUR BIG BROTHER HOUSEMATES?
No strategy. If I give them strategy, it might not work for them. They have to be real and make sure that they get noticed; but they should not play all their games at once, because they might come out strong and people vote them out. Having sex will not help. You do not have to take off your clothes to be noticed.
YOU ARE BACK ON TV, WHAT NEW THINGS DO YOU HAVE FOR US?
It is good to be back. Just sit and watch. I have gathered enough information; have become more creative, so you are going to get the best of me every morning on Urban TV.
YOU LOOK FIT, DO YOU WORK OUT?
I do lots of beer and hanging out with my friends. Once in a while, I ride my motorbike. I also groom myself.

The 17 Different Personalites of Beverly Oso

Posted By : Admin on Monday | 08:30

Monday

Beverly Osu is now one of the biggest celebrities in the country. Before participating in this year’s edition of Big Brother Africa, a participation which made her into an international star, she was relatively well-known in Nigeria as a model and video vixen. OSEYIZA OOGBODO spoke with her recently.

How is life after Big Brother?

I have to say it’s beautiful. Many good things are coming my way. I am usually a very busy person, so it’s nothing I can’t handle.

How do you feel about your controversial image due to your BBA participation?

There is a negative side to everything in life. It is not everything people say about you that is true, so I don’t really think about it or allow it to affect me.

Are you sorry about your widely criticised actions in Big Brother?

Well, I don’t feel sorry because I was being myself. So, I can’t say sorry to anyone who feels disappointed. They’re living their lives and I’m living mine.

The only difference is that I was in a house where I had to make the platform work for me, the platform everybody enjoyed seeing me make. If you guys stuck to your television for 91 days only to see my faults, then you should check yourself because people have their faults and it’s only people with faults that quickly notice it in other people. I don’t criticise people and I don’t think people should criticise me because no matter how you look at it, I’m still a youth.

Your critics don’t agree with you that you made Nigeria proud in Big Brother. What do you have to say about that?

If they don’t agree that I made Nigeria proud, they should also try competing in a reality show, even if it’s a beauty pageant. It is how you present yourself that matters. Apparently, all these will last for a period of time, but if I am still on people’s lips till next year, then I will know that I am relevant.

You are one of the celebrities who supported a campaign against drug abuse. What can you say about drug abuse?

I think people have to know that drug abuse is not all about dealing in cocaine. In controlling drug abuse, I think we should start from the local pharmacy. If you don’t have a drug prescription from a doctor, don’t buy drugs based on selfmedication or advice of friends.

That is where we should start from, as some people abuse even cough syrup by taking it excessively and using it to get high. It still boils down to the intrigues of how people use things like cough syrup excessively. I have seen how young people abuse drugs.

A lot of people use cough syrup to get high. It is not good because it causes crystals in the body. A lot of youths don’t know this but it is bad. In controlling drug abuse, I think we should start from the local pharmacy.

If you don’t have a prescription for a drug from professional doctor, please don’t buy any drug base on self medication or friends’adivce. That is where we should start from. As to why I am identifying with the organiser, it is simply because the campaign is beneficial.

What can you tell us about yourself that we don’t know?

I have many sides to me. I have like seventeen different personalities. There’s my crazy side, the stubborn one, the focused, the calculative, the religious, just too many.

But if the topic slips away, then I know Nigerians are just hypocrites. They can do what they want to do, it will only break me inside, but I will still be strong. Nigerians don’t appreciate their own. It’s not like that in other countries. I travelled to Tanzania and I saw how they appreciate their own people.
