IT was a night of fun and of course lots of glitz and glamour at The
Big Brother Africa (BBA) Hotshots launch on October 5 at The Whippet in
Linden, Johannesburg, South Africa.
After the unexpected burning down of the former BBA house also
located in Johannesburg, viewers and audiences were naturally eager to
see how this new venue would turn out and with no doubt Big Brother did
not disappoint.
The usual presenter, Ik Osakioduwa, popularly known as Ik, introduced
audiences to this year’s edition with a stunning cabaret performance of
the official Big Brother theme song. It was splendid, well curated and
off course something audiences never expected.
During the launch show for the first time ever, all 26 housemates
were given one-minute slots to showcase their talents live on stage. It
was something new and exciting.
Each and everyone in the audience had an opportunity to score each
performance with any mark between 1 and 100, which also made the whole
night worth the while for everyone present.
As a way of connecting audiences with the housemates through the
talent show, Big Brother further explained that it was a way to come up
with the housemate who scored highest, making them Head of House who
would be the ONLY housemate not up for eviction this coming Sunday.
With a wonderful saxophone performance Tanzania’s Laveda got the top
score beating the top 6 who included Kenya’s Sabina, Ghana’s M’am Bea,
Nigeria’s Lillian, Rwanda’s Arthur and Zimbabwe’s own, JJ. Her win thus
meant that she would be the only one not in danger of going home after
this coming Sunday’s eviction.
As usual at BBA launches, award-winning musicians from Nigeria,
Tanzania and South Africa also took the stage with their various musical
talents.
Nigeria’s multiple award-winning superstars Davido who is already
well known across Africa for a number of hits like DamiDuro, Aye and
Skelewu did what he knew best leaving the crowd screaming for more.
Other performers included Tanzania’s Bongo Flavor recording artiste,
Diamond, who also performed before at one of Big Brother Stargame’s
previous eviction shows, South African hip hop musician Cassper Nyovest
known for his smashing hit Doc Shebeleza and the Nigerian-born Emmy Gee
featuring AB Crazy and DJ Dimplez.
Audiences were welcomed with a red carpert entrance and the show was
full of life. As usual BBA Hotshots was aired live from 7pm on Africa
Magic, Africa Magic Entertainment, Africa Magic World as well as on DStv
channel 197 and 198.
However, as the show goes on Zimbabwean audiences eagerly await how
far the country’s representatives this year Butterphly and JJ will
reach. This is the period which will see audiences glued to their
screens for this 63 day journey.
Furthermore, ZiJudgement Yard’s finest, DJ Flevah, will also be playing in the Big Brother house on Friday October 31 .
